Multilingual SEO

Multilingual SEO that turns your translations into a traffic channel.

Your site is available in several languages, but the translated versions barely get any traffic? Our multilingual SEO service covers what a translated page needs to rank: structure, translation, internal linking and tracking, language by language. We work with our own systems, built in-house and proven first on our main website.

01 · The problem

Your site is translated. Multilingual SEO is what gets each language found.

A translated site isn’t automatically visible in its other languages: search engines misread its foreign-language versions, or don’t show them to the right readers.

This service is for companies in Belgium and France that sell in several languages or several markets: online stores, content publishers, service companies expanding abroad.

Your translated pages get almost no visits from search engines.

The German version shows up for French readers, or the same page loads at two different URLs.

The original was updated, but the translations still show the old version.

Nobody can tell which language brings you customers.

02 · Our approach

Our own systems, proven first on our own site.

MACCUS is a multilingual SEO agency based in Tournai, Belgium. Our multilingual SEO systems, developed in-house, were built for our main website, marcwiner.com, before we offered them to clients.

An architecture search engines can read

One address per language, hreflang tags that link each page to its translations, a sitemap per language. That way, search engines can show each reader the version written for them.

Translations built for search

Translation and localization at scale, with quality control specific to each language. We choose the words your customers type in their country.

Tracking language by language

Each language has its own numbers. We see which ones are growing, and when an original page changes, its translations follow.

03 · What you get

The work we do on your site, in broad strokes.

The scope is decided site by site, after an initial review. Depending on where you start, the engagement covers all or some of this work.

Quote-based pricing, tailored to your site and your languages.

  • An audit of your current languages: what’s indexed, what ranks, what’s duplicated.
  • A URL structure per language and consistent hreflang tags across the whole site.
  • Translation and localization of your pages at scale, with quality control in each language.
  • Internal linking and a sitemap specific to each language.
  • Updating the translations when the original page changes.
  • Performance tracking by language, so you know where to invest next.

04 · How it works

Four steps. Nothing hidden.

01

You request a quote

You tell us your markets, your current languages and the ones you’re targeting.

02

We look at your languages

A first pass on indexing, URLs, hreflang tags and the pages that already rank, so we can price accurately.

03

We scope the engagement

A written scope: the languages chosen, the pages involved, the order of the work and the matching quote.

04

We roll it out and track it

Structure, translations and internal linking in place, then tracking by language. We adjust based on the numbers.

05 · The proof

The numbers from our main website, in 23 languages.

marcwiner.com, a French-language cooking site translated into 23 languages.

It’s our main website. It belongs to Marc Winer, managing director of MACCUS, and it’s translated with the systems described above.

Its translations bring in more than 460,000 sessions a month in 23 languages (September 2026). In those languages, traffic grew more than eightfold in one year, and they account for nearly 40% of the site’s traffic.

These are our numbers, measured on our own site. Your results will depend on your market, your content and your starting point.

06 · FAQ

Your questions about multilingual SEO.

Can a translated page really rank?

Yes, if it’s treated as a page in its own right: its own address, correct hreflang tags, the words people search for in that country, links from pages in the same language. On our main website, the translated versions make up nearly 40% of the site’s traffic. Our guide to multilingual website SEO details each step.

Do translations count as duplicate content?

No. A translation speaks to other readers, in another language, and search engines treat it as a separate page. The duplication risk comes from the same page served at two addresses, versions that aren’t properly linked to each other, or half-translated pages. The audit finds those cases first.

Which languages should you target?

The ones your customers already search in, then the languages of the markets you want to enter. In Belgium, French, Dutch and German come first. For broader international SEO, we often start with English. We measure demand in each language before proposing an order.

How do you check translation quality?

Each language goes through its own quality check in our in-house systems: terminology, units, local phrasing, faithfulness to the original. You can review the pages before they go live, or have your teams review them.

I already have translations. Do I need to redo everything?

Rarely. We start by auditing what exists, and the translated pages that already rank stay in place. We fix the structure, rework the weak translations and fill in what’s missing.

How do you measure results?

Language by language: indexed pages, impressions and clicks in search results, sessions on each version of the site. We don’t promise rankings or traffic numbers, because nobody controls search engines.
